Pleasure vs Performance

I’m actually not sure who many people have noticed that The Bedroom’s byline is “art of pleasure”…and never have I been more proud of it and convinced that “we got it right”, as when I heard Dr Eve discussing exactly this topic during the launch of her latest book, “Ageing & Sexuality”.

Like us, she advocates that too often the focus in a sexual relationship is one of performance, instead of pleasure, especially as either the parties or the relationship grows older.

It is also interesting to be reminded that we very often only think “penetration” when we think of “sex”, but we forget just how multifaceted “sex” is. Again pleasure comes into play (pardon the pun!)…as “sex” sometimes is simply playing, laughing and having fun in the bedroom!

The respective definitions might explain further why we at The Bedroom are all about pleasure:
Performance: That which is performed or accomplished; a thing done or carried through; an achievement; a deed; an act; a feat
Pleasure: The gratification of the senses or of the mind; agreeable sensations or emotions; the excitement, relish, or happiness produced by the expectation or the enjoyment of something good, delightful, or satisfying.

Somehow pleasure sounds every so slightly more enticing….
