Rescue yourself ... there's no-one riding in on a white horse!

Something that strikes me often in this gorgeous business of mine, is how many women truly believe that a man on a white horse is going to rescue them one day. They live their life, not in the hope, but in the absolute expectation that this IS fact, and WILL come to pass...

I am single and I am happy, this is something that perplexes most of my friends, who never pass up an opportunity to try and set me up with someone! I don't get it, and they don't get me. I think what it stems from is the fact that I was raised by a single mom, my father left the country when I was less than a year old and my mom never settled down with anyone after that. I have been raised, surrounded by strong, independent women (who I consider the positive role models in my life) and having witnessed abusive and unstable marriages (not what I choose for myself!). So I don't actually get the whole concept of having to have a man and settle down. I am just as perplexed by their attempts to set me up, as they are with my seeming disinterest in "settling down".

The crux for me is I don't feel the need to "settle" for anything. Trust me when I tell you this, if I ever marry, an amazing, out of the ordinary man he will be to persuade me to walk down that aisle. Because I simply do not have the burning need to put a strip of precious metal around my ring finger, I am who I am, a piece of metal won't change that, or make me feel better or worse about myself, or make me a better or worse person.

I alone am responsible for my happiness. I think this is a very good lesson that many women would do well to learn. Too many women, live their hum drum lives, killing time until "HE" comes along... to sweep them off their feet... sort out their financial woes... fill the hole in their heart... and rescue them!

Nice fantasy ladies, and don't get me wrong, I love a good fantasy :) But the simple fact is only one person can rescue you ... YOU!

I wish you well in your journey to rescue yourselves ... if in fact, you need rescuing at all :)
